ALT Assay Kit

ALT Assay Kit is a colorimetric method for assaying the activity of ALT.Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT), also known as serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (SGPT), is a pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the reversible transfer of an amino group from alanine to α-ketoglutarate, generating pyruvate and glutamate. ALT is found primarily in liver and serum, but occurs in other tissues as well. Hepatocellular injury often results in an increase of serum ALT levels and serum ALT levels can be used as a marker for liver injury.

ALT is also a very useful tool for preclinical investigation of experimental drug formulations and ALT levels are commonly used to monitor and attenuate the hepatotoxic effects of experimental drugs in rodents. Our kits can work with a variety of mammalian samples including rats and pig. You might have to try a few different volumes to make sure the readings are within the linear range of the std. curve. This kit has a detection limit of 10 mU of enzyme activity per well.
